Tociana “Love” July is a licensed clinical social worker and perinatal health advocate with 10+ years of experience in the mental health field. Love developed a passion for maternal health care during her pregnancy where she, like many other women, obsessively conducted research on pregnancy and birthing experiences. With knowledge of the experiences of black women and the alarming statistics related to black maternal and infant death, she decided to give birth to her son at home. With the support of her doula, she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. There were several resources at her disposal that supported her in making this decision and one of the biggest ones was learning how to create the ideal birthing and postpartum community. Love desires to create this same community for other women by providing mental health support, case management, and other community-based resources to ensure women are mentally and physically prepared to bring life into this world.
